Burned in the third degree, I found in pain a new path to understand emotions and help others overcome their own trials
There are dates that mark a life.
For me, it was August 10, 2015.
That day, a lunch at a restaurant suddenly turned into horror. As I approached the hot buffet, it exploded. I suffered third-degree burns. I was the only person injured.
What followed were months of hospitalization in a specialized burn center, skin grafts, intensive rehabilitation, compression garments… and above all, indescribable pain.
I remember the exact moment when I realized that my life would never be the same.
My body collapsed on a plastic chair, water pouring over me from a simple garden hose while I waited for help to arrive. And already, this certainty settled within me:
– I would never return to work in the operating room.
– My way of seeing life would be irreversibly different.
Ten Years of Struggle, Learning, and Renewal
The past ten years have been a path filled with tears, discouragement, and moments when I believed I would not make it… but also with learning, writing, and profound healing.
In August 2015, I believed I had lost my life.
In August 2025, I can see how far I have come.
This ordeal became the starting point of a life filled with meaning.
Today, everything I have learned is something I share with those who are going through their own trials.
